Full facial rejuvenation is the ongoing goal and topic of cosmetic consultations across the world. Where we used to focus on certain areas of improvement to the face, we now have so many tools in the toolbox to choose from, that our focus has adjusted to a more subtle overall improvement to the face/neck areas as a whole by combining fillers, lasers, chemical peels, and neuromodulators. All of the options can be very confusing and overwhelming, so today we’re going to share with you some of the tools we have for improvements starting with the top of the face and moving our way down.
Let’s start with the forehead. The easiest and most common treatment in the forehead area is a neuromodulator commonly known as Botox or Dysport. These neuromodulators when injected into a muscle, blocks nerve signals that tell your muscles to contract. The result-smoothing and over time eliminating wrinkling to the forehead area. These toxins can also be used to treat crows feet, frown lines, and bunny lines in the nose. For some of us who were later to the party and may have some deeper set wrinkles in these areas, we commonly use dermal fillers to soften the lines and add volume to the temple area, giving you a subtle change, but more youthful overall appearance.
Let’s move on to the cheeks. Dermal fillers have come a long way in recent years and instead of being used as more of a spackle into lines on the face, we have been using them to add volume and hydration where is inevitable is lost over time. Sculptra, which has been around since 1999, is another great way to restore volume loss and youthfulness to the cheek, temple, and jawline giving a non-invasive lift to the face. It is made of a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, commonly found in absorbable sutures, setting it apart from standard hyaluronic acid fillers.
For the lips and mouth-we have a number of dermal filler we like to use to soften lines and wrinkling around the mouth, combined with a neurotoxin in places like the chin, upper lip, and mouth corners.
All of the above mentioned are excellent and relatively pain-free procedures to enhance youthfulness, but to fully achieve the full facial rejuvenation, we love to combine the injectables with our resurfacing lasers like the Fraxel Dual to even out skin tone/texture/and fine lines-wrinkles, Chemical peels, Collagen PIN, and Ultherapy for a subtle lift in the jawline cheek area.
