This just in! The next generation of CoolSculpting technology has arrived to Wilmington Dermatology Center. The new technology results in treating stubborn fat in less time with greater comfort! Read below to learn all about CoolSculpting and ask us about the NEW generation of CoolSculpting.
Coolsculpting™ is a patented, non-invasive, clinically proven procedure designed to selectively reduce fat layers in problem areas. This unique technology cools and freezes the unwanted fat cells without surgery or downtime that results in a visible reduction of fat. The treated problem cells are gone for good, creating an ideal non-invasive long-term treatment.
How it works
Coolsculpting™ is based off the insight of Cryolipolysis®, the idea that cold can selectively affect and eliminate fat cells without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue. Despite diets and strict exercise regimens, many of us have stubborn fat that we can’t seem to make go away. Coolsculpting™ technology uses this controlled cooling to target and kill these fat cells, naturally eliminating them from the body in the weeks that follow. Cool sculpting™ is the world’s #1 non-invasive fat-reduction procedure.
What areas can be treated
The most commonly treated areas for Coolsculpting™ are stubborn abdominal fat, love handles, under chin, arms, and both inner and outer thighs. Coolsculpting™ comes with multiple applicator sizes in order to fit a specific areas need. Coolsculpting™ is specifically designed for unwanted fat the resists diet and exercise and as such, is more of a non-surgical alternative to liposuction than it is a weight loss solution for people.
History of Coolsculpting™
The origin of this amazing device came from a study on popsicle panniculitis where Harvard University scientists, Dieter Manstein, MD and R. Rox Anderson, MD observed that some children got dimples due to eating popsicles. This idea became the insight behind the technology that the Coolsculpting™ procedure is based on. In September of 2010, Coolsculpting™, developed by Zeltiq, received FDA approval with a clean safety profile.
What to Expect from Coolsculpting™
Wilmington Dermatology Center consultations are extensive. We outline your target areas using a 360 degree approach, walk you through the Coolsculpting™ procedure, and answer any questions you may have regarding pre- and post-procedure. From there that we can determine if Coolsculpting™ is the best fat reduction treatment for your problem area.
Once treatment areas are determined, we take a variety of photographs from various angles that enable us to gauge your progress after a 3-month period. Our Wilmington Dermatology Center Professionals select the applicator size best suited for your treatment area and put into place. Due to the non-invasive nature of Coolsculpting™ patients can lay comfortably and read, work or nap for the one to two hours it takes to complete the procedure. Once the treatment is complete, our Coolsculpting™ specialist removes the applicator and massages the area.
Depending on the areas being treated, procedures last about one to two hours, making this an easy procedure to perform during your lunch hour without any major disruption to your day. Patients can resume their normal activities—including work and exercise—immediately following the procedure.
The Coolsculpting™ procedure is performed in the Wilmington office under the supervision of Dr. Rosalyn George. Patients can expect to feel some tingling and numbness in the area treated following the procedure. While this does not bother most patients, Dr. George can discuss options for helping to relieve with discomfort.

Coolsculpting™ by ZELTIQ is not intended as a weight-reduction program for overweight individuals. They are seeking spot reduction for specific areas of fat but are not considering a surgical procedure.
What our patient’s are saying
“I recently had CoolSculpting at Wilmington Dermatology and am thrilled with the results. I lost 2.5″ in my waist and abdomen which I’d never been able to do with exercising and diet. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. George and her staff, specifically Shelley who did my procedure. I’ve had other appointments in the office and have never had to wait more than five minutes which is amazing in a doctor’s office. I would highly recommend Dr. George and her team for any cosmetic procedure” – B D
