Are your skincare products authentic?

Are your skincare products authentic?

We wanted to focus on and can’t stress enough to not buy your skincare products through unauthorized sites!

We live in a day and age where things can be done with the simple click of a button, or request to Siri. On today’s blog we want to make you aware of some of the risks of ordering your products from unauthorized re-seller’s online and what you can do to ensure you’re getting the products you’re paying for.

The Today Show did a segment on buying products online and found that of the 47 products ordered 20 were counterfeit! That’s almost half of the products that were ordered. The counterfeit items were very hard to determine the real from the fake, but in the counterfeit items traces of chemicals were found like cyanide, mercury, and lead. The products were ordered from large branded sites that people commonly use and believe to be trusted. While these companies are trying to put a stop to the counterfeit products, the market for them is becoming larger and larger.

According to Skinceuticals, counterfeit Skinceutical products have been found on unauthorized retailer websites.  These fake products are considered unsafe and shouldn’t be used.  It can be almost impossible to distinguish real from fake, which is why it’s so important to make sure your retailer is authorized.  Some examples of websites that are selling unauthorized Skinceutical products are Amazon, Walmart, Costco, Ebay, and Ruelala.  Skinceuticals has found that 95% of products bought back are counterfeit and all their retail boxes have a tracker in them to track illegal sales.
