Hair Loss Trial: Now Recruiting

Posted on:

Hair loss, also know as alopecia, is a plaguing skin condition that a number of people deal with on a daily basis.  At any one time, about 90% of the hair on a person’s scalp is growing. Each follicle has its own life cycle that can be influenced by age, disease, and a wide variety of other factors. Some things that may trigger or cause hair loss are stress, hormones, genes, drug use, and autoimmune diseases to name a few. There are also many different types of hair loss, all classified by age, severity, cause etc.  Although there are a number of different types of hair loss, the treatments are all relatively the same.

Our first and usually very effective line of defense is Rogaine.  This over-the-counter foam product does an excellent job of helping new hair growth and maintaining what you already have…..you just have to use it! When we want to get more aggressive on the treatment, we also use a medication in pill form called Propecia in combination with the Rogaine treatment.  One of our last lines of defense are steroid injections directly into the scalp in order to stimulate new hair growth in the follicles.  While all of these treatment options are great, we are continually seeking new and better ways to treat such conditions through our research studies and trials.

Are you suffering from thinning on the crown/back of your head? We’re currently recruiting healthy male participants for a clinical trial of a topical treatment product for hair growth in men with male pattern baldness. If you’re a male 18-59 and have thinning hair, you may be eligible to participate in this trial and receive potential FREE treatment.  Contact our office today for further details! 910-256-4350
